Civic Dialogue on the 2024 Presidential Election – Youth and Citizen Responsibility in Batticaloa & Trincomalee
As part of the national awareness campaign led by the People’s Movement for a Better World, a civic education dialogue was conducted in Batticaloa and Trincomalee involving both youth and adults.
The discussion covered four key focus areas:
Global Politics and Economy – Understanding global power dynamics and how they influence local governance.
Sri Lanka’s Geopolitical Position – Examining how Sri Lanka’s location impacts political and economic decisions.
Political History and People’s Experience – Reflection on local governance, public struggles, and democratic learning.
Public Responsibility in Elections – Emphasizing the critical role of informed, responsible voting in shaping the country’s future.
The session was facilitated by Lalith Abeysinghe, promoting thoughtful civic engagement ahead of the 2024 presidential election.
