Civic Conversations and Youth Training on Accountability and Governance
Representatives from several areas — Gandara, Nilwella (Matara), Negombo, Rathmalyaya, Periyakulam, and Alkasim (Puttalam) — affiliated with the People’s Movement for a Better World, gathered for meaningful discussions on Provincial Government Elections and Post-Election Accountability.
These conversations focused on:
The responsibilities of a “small parliament” model
Public accountability at the provincial level
Common regional problems faced by grassroots communities
In parallel, a youth training program was conducted in the Ratmalana area of Puttalam, led by the Youth Movement for a Better World. This initiative engaged local youth in understanding their role in maintaining social cohesion, governance, and responsible citizenship.
